Jesus is/was here

This shirt design was inspired by a powerful archaeological discovery west of the Jerusalem Cave—an ancient Hellenistic water cistern that evolved into a sacred space. Guarded by a timeless fig tree and carved into soft limestone using traditional chisel marks, the cistern eventually became a small Byzantine dwelling. Inside, a bold Greek inscription reading “Jesus (is–was) here” and a chi-rho christogram mark the walls, hinting at Christ’s spiritual or physical presence. Above it, an etching of a ship with a figure believed to be Jesus evokes early Christian symbolism. This design draws from that mystery, reverence, and deep historical connection.
